Our Mission

Every child deserves to move freely.

The Mobility Initiative exists to eliminate the financial and systemic barriers that deny children the fundamental right of independent movement. Standard commercial pediatric wheelchairs are prohibitively expensive, and insurance approval cycles routinely steal months of critical early-childhood development. We aren’t looking to reinvent the wheel, but rather to build a manufacturing network that fills the gaps left behind by current systems. By bypassing traditional supply chains, we deliver custom, zero-cost assistive devices to the children who need them most—focusing on rural areas in the United States, underserved communities, and developing nations worldwide.

The devices we manufacture are lightweight, colorful, and bespoke to each child using a universal open-source platform. Because when kids can move, they can play, learn, and thrive.

About Us

Built by people who care.

We started The Mobility Initiative as a group determined to use modern fabrication technologies to solve a critical human problem. By leveraging a dedicated printing farm in Colorado, we can construct custom mobility devices faster and more efficiently than ever before.

Our network of volunteers spans the globe, but our focus is always on the individual child—ensuring every device, like this one pictured recently delivered to rural Oklahoma, safely reaches a family ready for independence.

Our Impact

Redefining Childhood Mobility.

Every device we deliver opens a new world for a child. We aren't just shipping hardware; we are shipping independence. When a child gains the stability and support to move safely through their environment, the world immediately becomes accessible. They can engage with their peers eye-to-eye, actively participate in school, and explore their local community with newfound confidence. That is the power of mobility: breaking down physical barriers so every child has the opportunity to thrive.
